Ripple Labs, the company, controls the default UNL. They decide which validators are “trusted.” In practice, over 90% of validators on the mainnet run the default configuration. That means Ripple chooses the validators. The network is a federated consensus, not a decentralized one. Code does not lie, but it does hide.
Core: The 521% Growth — A Deep Dive into the Transaction Data
