The problem is the lack of a decentralized identity layer that distinguishes human from machine. Decentralization is a verb, not a noun. It’s an ongoing process of building and testing trust mechanisms. The study’s 35% figure should push us to accelerate that process.

Yet there’s a blind spot. The crypto industry itself is addicted to AI-generated content for marketing, whitepapers, and even code audits. I’ve seen projects that claim to be “decentralized” but whose entire documentation is written by GPT-4. If we can’t detect our own use of AI, how can we build systems that detect it for others? The hypocrisy will erode credibility faster than any external regulation.
